Jim specializes in turning real-life stories into humorous, heart-warming experiences. These slices-of-life create a human face for the organization and give employees pride in themselves and their accomplishments.

Avon Products: Bob Hope Monologue

Jim wrote an original monologue for Bob Hope that was performed for 3,000 Avon managers. The jokes were based on the managers' pet peeves and focused on issues to be solved at the conference. Hope never understood the inside jokes, but said," If the first line gets a laugh, I'll do them all." The joke got a roar and he did the entire monologue. The Avon managers were wowed that "Bob Hope knew who they were."

Austin Museum of Art Fundraiser: After-Dinner Sketch

Jim was commissioned to write a skit about Clara Driscoll, a larger-than-life Texas heiress who saved the Alamo from demolition in 1903. The event was a $1500-a-plate dinner to renovate Ms. Driscoll's former home, now owned by the museum. Jim created a conversation between a young and mature Clara, using historical and current events that led seamlessly into the appeal for funds.

Baptist Healthcare System of San Antonio: Forty-minute play

Jim wrote seven monologues based on actual experiences of patients, family members and physicians that had the audience on a roller coaster between laughter and tears. By using monologues, rehearsal time and costs were kept to a minimum. The set was a raised platform and five stools. The production was originally presented as a fundraiser but proved so popular that it was performed at the national convention of Association for Healthcare Philanthropy.
